Alias Meggotta DE BURGH
Meggota's husband Richard of Gloucester inherited his estates and title when only 8 years old and Meggotta's father Hubert de Burgh was given the wardship thereby controlling the whole of the earl's lordship in the valleys of Morganwg and Gloucester. Hubert ( was the Justicar ) and his wife planned the marriage of their daughter Meggotta to Richard to maintain his influence on not only his earldom in Kent and the lands held jointly by him and Margaret of Scotland in England and Wales.
