Since the Management Committee of the Arun Yacht Club was elected in November 2008 it has been looking for ways in which the clubhouse can be redecorated.
The clubhouse was designed in the late sixties and whilst some alterations and modifications have taken place it is looking tired and needs to be brought up to date.
We looked at several different options including involving members and the social committee but found that, whilst everyone had great ideas, no one could come up with an overall plan.
In April this year we were approached by ‘Design & Do’ whose students were looking for a project to complete their City & Guilds design course. After an initial visit to the club to take measurements, speak to members, explore the site and discover the club’s ethos, the four groups of students spent many weeks working with plans, colour schemes and materials. The club asked them to work within a budget for materials of £5000. They came up with four different designs which they presented to the members on the 1st July 2009.
The four designs can be viewed by clicking on one of the buttons on the left or bottom of this page.
Please take you time to view them as we shall be asking members for their views so that we can move this project forward in the coming months.
