The Arun Yacht Club
We are Holly Sugden and Asmara Conroy and together we are Seagull Seats Interiors and we’re offering a fun and funky interior solution and we would like to present our vision to you for the future of the Yacht Club.
The colour scheme we have chosen has been inspired by the landscape, the boats and your own flag. The cream reflects the beach which is all around us, the blue the sea, the beautiful deep red invokes the boats and the strong citrus yellow accent colour is your own insignia colour. The accent colour is used sparingly but effectively to lift the space.
We have moved the Fire Escape to the other set of French doors to eliminate the problem of the sand and dirt being continually dragged through the club. We were fully aware that the dinghy sailors form a large part of the club but the club needs to attract new blood to continue and to thrive so by making the interior much more appealing and moving the direction of travel for the dinghy sailors we hope this will help to achieve this. Trellis has been added at the entrance along the front to create an attractive but definite divide between the dining area and the bar and the wet room, this will allow people to enjoy the dining experience more. When people go to pubs to dine there is always a divide between bar and restaurant areas and this is because people want and appreciate the divide. This is what we have created and this will allow the club to be properly enjoyed by different people wanting different things at the same time.
The business room can be reserved when not in use for meetings; the room will provide a superior dining experience because of its magnificent views and will turn dining into a truly unique experience, ideal for special occasions.
We have kept the flags but feel the number of pictures needs to be drastically reduced as they are all lost in the sheer numbers, we suggest a ballot to vote for your favourite pictures to be kept. The flags have been kept to reflect the tradition they represent and the important part they play in the life of the club.
In the wet room we have created a small children’s area this will help to attract families and young children, who will also help assure the long term future of the club. There will be a stud wall by the Gents toilet to provide a one way route to the toilets which will improve the flow of traffic.
Our main aim has been to make the club warm and inviting whilst recognising that the Club needs to be a bar and restaurant and have a wet room. We have endeavoured however to always keep in the forefront of our mind that this is a Yacht Club and its primary function needs to be to serve the needs of the yachtsmen. We hope you feel we have achieved this and thank you for giving us the opportunity to present our fun and funky ideas.
