Henry was a Compressor and Fan Engineer at William Coal Pit in Cumberland, supplying air to the miners who worked underground. This mine stretched three miles under the sea.
His consumming interest was in dentistry ( of course this was in the days before dentists required to be registered), which gave him a second income. but he had to stop in 1921 because he had other means of livelihood. Nevertheless, his work was renowned throughout the county, both for making sets of teeth and also for doing extractions.
He enjoyed french literature and spoke the language fluently.
